Things have been getting busy for us at Prospect Games. We’ve been travelling to several shows demoing the game to the public and this Easter weekend we’ll be down in Coventry for Insomnia! More news about this weekend can be found on our IndieDB page here.
We also recently showed the game off at Rezzed in London and got lots of positive feedback. We’ve implemented lots of fixes, changes and added new maps so if you played it at Rezzed it should play a lot better this weekend.
Here’s a roundup of all the interviews Andrew gave over the course of Rezzed:
We also briefly featured in a Eurogamer round up:
And lastly, Platform32 did a preview of the game:
So as you can see, Rezzed was a great time and we’re super excited for Insomnia this Easter weekend, see you there!
Don’t forget to check the Unbox Indie DB page for more news and downloads!
It’s been an exciting month for us so far, Andrew and I have just got back from GDC 2015 in San Francisco and in a few days we’ll be exhibiting Unbox at Rezzed!
The 2015 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco was fantastic, we met loads of awesome people and managed to show the game off a little. The event had it’s fair share of big announcements, biggest for us being that Unreal 4 is now completely free! Aside from that it was great to hang out and do touristy stuff with Ashley Stancil and Samuel Read of Hypersloth (developers of Dream)!
As for Unbox itself, it’s come along quite a bit over the last two months. We’ve made a new trailer which you can enjoy below:
If you’ve not seen the game before, Unbox is a crazy platformer where you play as a sentient cardboard box, hell bent on delivering itself to a destination. Jump, Unbox (essentially a double jump mechanic with limited uses) and fire rockets at your friends in Split Screen multiplayer. Unbox was originally made for the Unreal 4 December Gamejam, but we decided that we liked the idea enough to finish it!
If you’re going to Rezzed then be sure to drop by the stand and play the game, we’ll be demoing it in four player mode so come and join the carnage! If you want to follow the progress of the game and get more frequent updates follow @ProspectGames as well!
It’s been a long long time since I posted here due to a lot of exciting things happening. I’ll post things more regularly at the start of next year as we have plenty we’re keeping under wraps that we will show.
Despite this, and as we’re easing off for the Christmas break, we thought we’d enter the Unreal Engine December GameJam. This month’s theme is “What’s in the box?”, to which we answered “stupid and crazy”. The gamejam was four days in total and I’m pleased with how we managed to get most of our ideas into the game.
Our entry, Unbox, sees players control a cardboard box gone mad as it careens around warehouses and bizarre floating worlds, causing damage, explosions and leaving wreckage and presents in it’s wake. The game supports up to four players and Oculus VR for the most immersive cardboard nightmare simulation yet created. Details on the gamejam itself can be found here.
